Project background

In March 2019, an online survey went out to gather public feedback on three concept designs for the park. There were 578 people who participated in that process. In May 2019, a public meeting was held to discuss the project. Around 200 people attended to provide their input, ask questions and brainstorm ideas. All the feedback from those outreach events can be found in the Document Library.

Critical Areas Assessment

SCJ Alliance, a local Environmental Consulting Firm, completed the Critical Area Assessment of the site in 2020. The report updated the existing wetland delineations, streams and geologically hazardous areas with current code requirements. A new seasonal, nonfish habitat stream (Ns) was mapped in the southern portion of the park. The environmental buffers have been updated on the plan for the wetlands and streams.

Access

In the summer of 2020, two parcels, totaling 2.51 acres, were purchased adjacent to the southern boundary of Kaiser Woods Park for the purposes of parking and accessing the park off Black Lake Boulevard.

Concept plan survey

On Jan. 19, 2022, Parks staff presented an updated concept plan for Kaiser Woods. The public meeting was hosted over Zoom and recorded. A survey was available to gather feedback on the concept plan and closed Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022. The results are available in the link below. Thank you for participating.

Next steps

The feedback from the survey is being used to help finalize the plan before it moves into permitting.
