Kaiser Woods Park Plan

Project Updates

Thank you to everyone who shared input for the proposed Kaiser Woods Park Plan. We had great participation. 578 people took the online survey and 198 people attended a public meeting on May 2nd.

You can view all of the feedback we’ve received in the Project Updates tab below.

There is a lot of great feedback that we are still processing, but some of the major themes we’ve heard have been:

  • Separate bikers and hikers
  • Focus on beginner/intermediate and family-friendly trails
  • Ensure a good experience for hikers/runners
  • Explore parking and access options to lessen the impact to Park Drive
  • Minimize environmental impacts including issues related to wetlands and streams
  • Concerns regarding runoff/hydrology/erosion/privacy as they relate to nearby homes

What's Next?

We are in the process of hiring an environmental consultant to do a critical areas study of the park (wetlands, streams, etc) so that we can revise the trail layout to minimize the impacts to these sensitive areas. We are also exploring potentially expanding the buffer between the trails and the downslope houses on the eastern side of the property and researching options for providing a restroom/porta-potty.

Once we have a revised concept we will work through the City’s Community Planning and Development Department permitting process and follow their lead in terms of other studies needed, any needed plan modifications, etc.

While it’s premature to say exactly what the final plan will look like, we can say it will likely look a bit different from any of the initial three concepts. Thanks to your input, we’re confident that the final plan will be better for both park users as well as for the neighborhood.

We will continue to update this page with new information as it becomes available.
