What's happening?

The City of Olympia is updating the Parks, Arts and Recreation Plan and we need your help!

Every six years, the City of Olympia updates the plan to guide the phased development and enhancement of Olympia’s park system. With your input, we will inventory the current park system, recreation facilities, and art program plans, and chart a course for the next six years.

The 2028-2034 Parks, Arts and Recreation Plan will:

  • assess our parks and facilities to ensure that the department is on track towards meeting community needs;

  • report on improvements to parks, programs and facilities since the publication of the 2022 Plan;

  • connect our work to the goals and policies adopted last year in the City’s comprehensive plan, Olympia 2045;

  • identify and prioritize major maintenance items and community needs for new parks and developments.

How to be involved

This page will be the community hub for connecting with this process, and we encourage you to visit early and often between now and the plan’s final adoption in early 2028. From here, you’ll be invited to review draft documents, attend public meetings, and provide feedback in a variety of ways.

Missed a meeting? No worries, we’ll post recordings along with polls and other ways to engage and provide periodic updates on what we’re hearing.

Thank you for coming alongside us on this journey!

Our first survey will open in August!
