2020 Budget: Your Priorities

A priorities driven budget process

In 2018, the City began to use a new and unique process to develop the City's budget called PPI (Priorities, Performance and Investments).

We start by listening to our community to learn their highest priorities. We then continually evaluate our performance in each of the identified areas. Finally, we use our actual performance to determine how we should adjust our investments to achieve the community's vision (as defined in the Olympia's Comprehensive Plan).

As we begin to develop the City budget for 2020, we know there may be some difficult decisions to make. So we need to hear from you: What are your top priorities?

  • 2018 Community Conversations

In 2018 we held a targeted, in-person community conversation to kick-off the PPI process. This conversation resulted in additional funding being dedicated to neighborhood sidewalks and responding to the homelessness crisis.

In 2019, we are using the online surveys to have the same type of conversation so that all members of our community can participate at their convenience and have their voices heard.
